      The design of the new police headquarters in Kortrijk features a simple vertical composition of two triangular volumes with a large open space between them. A gridded field of rectangular perforations are made in both upper and lower volumes allowing both daylight penetration and a subtle disruption of the large plan surfaces. These perforations vary functionally as voids, exterior patios, atria and glass volumes. They impart a gentle specificity to the otherwise flexible and generic office floors and provide both physical and visual connectivity between all floors.
