XDGA is an internationally operating architecture and urban design firm, established in 1989 and based in Brussels and Paris.
XDGA understands architecture and urban design as complementary tools to read, interpret, and reimagine the contemporary city. Whether working at the scale of a single building or that of a territory, XDGA’s design process is driven by a rigorous scanning of the context (both material and immaterial) in which each project is embedded. This analytical foundation is essential to building a clear conceptual framework from which form can emerge as a means to orchestrate complexity, expose contradictions and generate new opportunities.
In this light, XDGA’s interventions aim to reveal the tensions that are already present and foster those that may arise from the juxtaposition of old and new; this often involves working with contrast rather than mimicry, creating clear-cut environments in which future scenario’s remain possible, and challenging conventional typologies, as architecture becomes a mode of critical inquiry and not a mere act of production.
As a result, XDGA does not believe in a pre-conceived language (or worse style) as its approach is not governed by image, but by method. Each project, in fact, generates its own, specific vocabulary and tackles accordingly pressing matters such as sustainability, circularity and (adaptive) re-use. These are regarded as potential catalysts for the transformation of the urban realm and contribute, together with the unique expertise of the different actors involved, to the formulation of progressive spatial concepts and inventive technical solutions.
XDGA is ultimately engaged in a continuous search about what architecture is and can be, as it strives to accommodate everyday life by crafting projects that are precise yet generous, daring yet grounded.

XDGA plays an active role in shaping the architectural discourse, through both practice and academic engagement, in Belgium and abroad, and counts to this day 5 monographs, numerous awards (Belgian Award for Architecture, Bigmat Award, Mies Van Der Rohe Award) and three travelling solo exhibitions.

Some of XDGA’s notable realised projects include: Mobilis (Brussels, 2024), Melopee Multipurpose School Building (Ghent, 2020), the Headquarters of the Province of Antwerp (Antwerp, 2019) and the Subway Station and Public Square Place Rogier (Brussels, 2019).
Ongoing projects comprise: the Renovation of the ‘Brigittines’ Housing Complex (Brussels, 2023—), the design of the HfG School of Arts (Frankfürt, 2023 —) and the Renovation and Extension of the Museum of Fine Arts of Tournai (Tournai, 2015—).
